Motorcycle deaths, injuries cost $16 billion
A 45-year-old man died after the motorcycle he was operating collided with an oncoming truck on Kapolei Parkway. According to a recent government report, direct costs from deaths and injuries due to motorcycle crashes were $16 billion in 2010, but the full cost is likely higher because long-term medical expenses are difficult to measure.
