Ban on the sand

A bill that would ban smoking in many beach parks on Oahu survived the second of three required votes by the City Council on Wednesday. The bill would prohibit smoking at Kapiolani Park and its surrounding areas, Kuhio Beach Park, Duke Kahanamoku Beach Park, the beach portion of Ala Moana Regional Park and Sandy Beach Park.
