A local man in his 40s died after diving from the cliffs at Portlock in Hawaii Kai last night.
Fire rescue personnel were called at 6:56 p.m. to the area above the Spitting Caves, where five men had been jumping into the ocean 50 to 60 feet below, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.
Police arrested three 15-year-old boys who allegedly beat and robbed a 24-year-old woman who was taking a walk Monday night in downtown Honolulu.
Police said the boys stopped her just before midnight near Mililani and Queen streets and asked her to help them find their iPod. The woman agreed and helped them search.
The three boys then allegedly attacked her and tried to take her purse, but she held onto it, police said. The boys then allegedly punched her head, face and arm until she let go of the purse, police said.
Police arrested the three on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
A fire at a two-story townhouse in Mililani that left a family of three homeless Monday night was caused by unattended smoking materials, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
The fire was reported at 10:54 p.m. in the upstairs bedroom of a home at 95-322 Kaloapau St. and was brought under control at 11:10 p.m. Two adults and a teenager lived at the home and escaped without serious injury, although one resident suffered cuts on the feet from broken glass, Seelig said.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
