A worker was critically injured yesterday morning at the Walt Disney Parks and Resort construction site in Ko Olina.

The man, described to be in his late 50s, was pinned by a scissors lift, a folding industrial platform. He was taken in critical condition by an ambulance to a local hospital.

Fire rescue crews and paramedics were summoned to the construction site at 92-111 Kamoana Place just before 9 yesterday morning.

17-year-old arrested in break-in

Police caught a 17-year-old boy allegedly breaking into a Kalihi business in only his underwear.

Officers responded to an alarm at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday and found the boy covered in black dust, hiding behind a stack of boxes, police said. He was holding a set of keys he allegedly stole from an office.

Employees found his clothes on the roof, near an air vent he apparently used to enter the building, police said. The boy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary and later released to appear in court.

Teenager dies in golf-cart mishap

A teenage boy died after he apparently fell off a stolen golf cart on Nahilolea Street in Halawa Heights at about 1:30 p.m. yesterday - the second death involving a cart in three weeks.

Pearl City police are still investigating the incident.

Police dispatch said two juvenile males were reportedly riding in the stolen golf cart when one fell out and died.

Fourteen-year-old Bronson Duke Nainoa De Rego, a Honokaa High School freshman, died at the Queen's Medical Center, where the boy was flown after falling from the back of a golf cart on Mana Road in Waimea on the Big Island on June 7.

De Rego's organs saved the lives of at least three people, his mother said.

Alleged Waikiki purse thief caught

Police said the 23-year-old woman was walking along the street at 5:05 a.m. when the man approached from behind and allegedly snatched her purse.
