Paramedics treated a man, 41, for a single gunshot wound early yesterday morning at the Hauula fire station, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's Emergency Services Department.

Police said the victim entered his father's bedroom to get medicine, and his father shot at him twice. He fled and went to the fire station for help.

Paramedics responding to the 2:54 a.m. call took the man to a trauma center in serious condition, Cheplic said.

He was transported in serious condition to the Queen's Medical Center, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper right chest and released.

His father, 72, was arrested at the scene.

Man allegedly hospitalizes friend

An argument between friends that initially ended amicably in Kalihi Saturday night ended up with one of the men returning and hitting the other over the head with a wooden object, police said.

One of the friends, a 35-year-old man, was arrested for investigation of felony assault. The other, a 36-year-old man, ended up in the hospital in fair condition with head injuries.

The two men had parted ways following an argument, police said. But the 35-year-old then returned and allegedly hit his friend from behind with a wooden object at 8 p.m. Saturday, police said.
