UH student to test skills on 'Survivor'

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

A University of Hawaii nursing student will compete in the upcoming season of the CBS reality show "Survivor."

Kelly Shinn, 20, of Mesa, Ariz., will be among the cast of 20 contestants in "Survivor: Nicaragua," debuting Sept. 15 on KGMB.

In a new twist, tribe members will be divided into young versus old, CBS said. The La Flor tribe, of which Shinn will be a member, will be made up of men and women 30 years old or younger. The Espada tribe, which will include former Dallas Cowboys coach and current Fox commentator Jimmy Johnson, comprises members 40 or older.
