Police were looking for a man in his 30s who is a suspect in the shooting of a teenager Sunday night in Waipahu.
A 17-year-old boy was treated at a local hospital and released Sunday night following a shooting at a home on Poailani Circle, police said.
The victim was shot at about 9 p.m. during an argument involving several males, police said. He was rushed to the hospital.
Police did not release a description of the suspect.
Police arrested a man suspected of breaking into a Haleiwa business early yesterday morning.
Officers responded to an audible alarm call at the Kamehameha Highway business at about 2:11 a.m.
Officers saw an open window and found the suspect hiding in a storage closet in the business's kitchen, police said. The man, 46, was arrested after a brief struggle and was being held pending charges of second-degree burglary, police said.
Difficult terrain complicated efforts to battle a brush fire in Waiawa last night.
Firefighters had to work in steep ravines to douse the flames, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
The blaze, below Waiawa Correctional Facility Road, blackened fallow former sugar cane fields well above the H-2 freeway, Seelig said. No structures were threatened.
About 25 to 30 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, reported at 5:30 p.m. It was declared contained at about 9:30 p.m.
Police credit an alert boyfriend with tracking down a purse thief in Waikiki on Saturday night.
The incident happened at about 8 p.m. at an outdoor bar. Police said a 29-year-old woman put her bag down on a sea wall so she could dance, and when she returned a few minutes later, the bag was gone.
The woman's boyfriend searched the area and found a 16-year-old girl with the bag. Police were called and the girl was arrested.
