The Hawaii Masons Union has endorsed former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann for governor.
The union represents more than 2,000 masons, bricklayers, plasterers, cement finishers, tile installers, rock-wall setters and caulkers statewide.
"We believe Mufi Hannemann has the executive experience, leadership ability and vision to be governor," Ricky Tamashiro, president of the Hawaii Masons Union, said in a statement. "As mayor and a former City Council chair, Mufi has proven that he understands the challenges that working families face and is ready to make the tough decisions to improve Hawaii for everyone."
Hannemann is running against former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie in the Democratic primary.
Oahu-based military units will move in convoys on the Big Island from Pohakuloa Training Area to Kawaihae Harbor from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Aug. 31 on Saddle Road, Mamalahoa Highway, Waikoloa Road and Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
