A 38-year-old man who was found dead in a Makaha condo has been identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office as Nicholas Aylward of Pacifica, Calif.
Police said the man's 6-year-old son was present when cleaning staff arrived to clean the room at the Hawaiian Princess at Makaha at about 11 a.m. Tuesday. Aylward may have been dead for a day or more, police said.
A woman was injured apparently when she fell or jumped out of a moving vehicle on Diamond Head Road near the lighthouse at about 5:15 p.m. yesterday.
The woman, who appeared to be in her 30s, was treated and transported in critical condition to a trauma center, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Department of Emergency Services.
LIHUE » Kauai County Deputy Prosecutor Lisa Arin says she plans to refile 32 counts of incest against a 63-year-old Kapaa man.
Circuit Judge Kathleen Watanabe dismissed the counts faced by Kenneth Bray without prejudice Wednesday, meaning they can be refiled.
Defense attorney Craig De Costa accused County Prosecutor Shaylene Iseri-Carvalho of prosecutorial misconduct by telling the grand jury that indicted Bray that the counts were for the same charge, incest.
De Costa argued the instruction effectively denied Bray due process because each count against him must be considered separately. Watanabe agreed.
The judge also let stand on Wednesday 34 counts of sexual assault against Bray.
Big Island police are looking for a 39-year-old man who escaped from the Hawaii Community Correctional Center last night.
