Kauai Assistant Police Chief Roy Archer said a preliminary look at the body of a missing woman indicates no suspicion of foul play.

Nola "Becky" Thompson's body is scheduled to undergo an autopsy Monday by a medical examiner from Maui.

Police found Thompson's body yesterday in a stream bed near a waterfall west of the Wailua area in east Kauai.

The body was about 2 1/2 miles from Thompson's rented, silver two-door Chrysler convertible parked near a remote trail, police said.

No note by Thompson was found in the vehicle, police said.

But friends staying at a Kauai hotel said Thompson appeared to be agitated the day before her 45th birthday .

Thompson, from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., had recently broken up with her boyfriend of five years. Thompson's mother spoke to her Aug. 31, the day of her birthday, and described her as being in good spirits.

Thompson's mother, Pearl, declined to comment yesterday.

The car was found Thursday, prompting a search for her in the Wailua area.

Thompson, who was reported missing Sept. 2, had rented the convertible, which was supposed to be returned the next day when she was scheduled to fly home.

Because of decomposition, dental records or fingerprints will be examined to determine positive identification during the autopsy.
