A federal judge sentenced a 44-year-old man convicted of sex trafficking to 25 years in prison, followed by a life term of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

U.S. District Judge David Ezra sentenced Rodney D. King yesterday after he pleaded guilty to sex trafficking involving two women and two girls and also attempted sex trafficking.

Ezra sentenced King's 31-year-old co-defendant, Sharon Mae Nishimura, Aug. 27 to eight years and four months' imprisonment and five years' supervised release. Nishimura pleaded guilty to attempted sex trafficking of a woman and a girl.

From April 2006 to June 2007, King used force, fraud and coercion in engaging two women in prostitution, according to information presented in court.

King tried to engage a third woman in commercial sex in October 2007 by using force, fraud and coercion, with Nishimura's help. He also got a girl involved in commercial sex acts from September through December 2007, and another girl in December 2007, knowing they were minors.
