» The University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Pharmacy will begin new health care initiatives in Hawaii and the Pacific region via a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

» In celebration of the 100th birthday of their mother, Tsuruko Nakasone, and in memory of their late father, the Nakasone family gave $35,000 to establish an endowed fund at the Center for Okinawan Studies of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
