Teen is found with replica grenades

Officers responding to a medical assist call for what police called a "mentally challenged" teenager found what appeared to be a hand grenade launcher and hand grenades in a Likini Street house in Salt Lake on Thursday.

The Police Department's Specialized Services responded to the scene just after 6 p.m. and determined the items were replicas. The teenager was taken to the Tripler Medical Center for observation.

Mover admits that he pawned items

A 19-year-old man hired by a 45-year-old woman to move boxes at her Kahala home turned himself in after confessing to stealing her iPhone and jewelry, police said.

The woman hired the man for a garage sale earlier this month, police said. On Wednesday the woman noticed items missing. When she confronted the man, he confessed to pawning the items, police said.

The man turned himself in Thursday at the Waikiki substation and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft, then released pending investigation.

Woman falls into cesspool

A Big Island woman had to be rescued after she fell into an old cesspool in the front yard of a Hawaiian Paradise Park home.

Daisy Lopez Villalobos was on her second day on the job as a home health aide Thursday when her client asked her to fetch a mop. As she walked back across the grass, the ground gave way.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported she fell an estimated 10 to 15 feet down the old cesspool.

Her client called 911. Firefighters and police came and lowered a harness and ladder to Villalobos to help her climb out of the hole.

She suffered a badly bruised hip and some cuts.
