A 32-year-old man who fell into cardiopulmonary arrest at Hercules Rock at Kaena Point State Park yesterday was taken to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center in "extremely critical condition" and was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The man developed heart problems around 2:10 p.m. and lifeguards performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, officials said.
Police said foul play is not suspected and the case has been classified as an unattended death.
A 50-year-old man being arrested for investigation of promoting methamphetamine head-butted a police officer and kicked another early yesterday morning in Waikiki, police said.
The officers were treated at the Queen's Medical Center and released in good condition.
They were investigating a complaint that the man was trying to sell methamphetamine around 12:45 a.m., police said. The man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, contempt of court and two counts of first-degree assault against a law enforcement officer.
Police arrested two men for stealing a truck Saturday night after the owner saw them riding down Aiki Street and pull over to a gas station.
The owner of the truck called police, who were able to arrest the two suspects at the Shell station on Waipahu Street. The driver, a 38-year-old man, was arrested for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. The passenger was arrested for unauthorized entry into a vehicle.
A pair of hikers who spent the night in the hills above Camp Erdman in Mokuleia were airlifted to safety yesterday morning by fire rescue personnel.
The hikers called for help Saturday night but rescuers were unable to locate them in the dark. The hikers were told to stay where they were until morning. Neither was injured.
Police arrested a 23-year-old Kaneohe man for allegedly assaulting his mother last November.
According to police, the man damaged his mother's vehicle, got in and assaulted her during an incident on Nov. 2.
Police located the man Saturday, and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motorized vehicle, criminal property damage and abuse of a family member.
