Police are looking for four men in their 20s who robbed an Aiea house where marijuana was being grown.
The men — armed with handguns and with their faces covered — entered the house through an unlocked door at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and demanded money, police said.
Inside the house were three men, ages 24, 25 and 26, and a 30-year-old woman. The intruders took cell phones and other property from them and fled.
While police investigated the robbery, they found evidence of marijuana-growing in the house, police said. Narcotics vice officers were called and dismantled the operation, police said.
Police arrested a 14-year-old student who allegedly threatened an educational worker at a school in the Ewa area Monday.
Police said the teen became upset while in school Monday morning.
An educational worker confronted the boy, who challenged the 38-year-old man to a fight, police said. When police arrived the boy resisted arrest, police said.
Police arrested him on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and resisting arrest.
Police arrested a man in the Ward Avenue area at about 6 a.m. yesterday after a woman reported being held against her will, punched and sexually assaulted.
The man, 37, was being held pending charges of kidnapping, first-degree sex assault and third-degree assault.
The man and the woman, 39, might have been in a previous romantic relationship, police said.
A Maui man was killed Monday night after his motorcycle hit a rock wall in a cul-de-sac on Lae Street in Paia.
Ronald Austin, 71, of Paia was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash happened at 6:28 p.m. He was not wearing a helmet.
It was Maui County's second traffic fatality this year.
Fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to a house and its contents in Kalaheo Monday night, the Kauai Fire Department said.
The fire at the two-bedroom house was reported at 8:29 p.m. by a neighbor in the Silver Track housing complex adjacent to Kalaheo Neighborhood Center. No one was home at the time. Fire crews from the Kalaheo and Hanapepe stations responded, along with Rescue 3. The blaze was extinguished at 9:21 p.m.
