Track news in tourist town

By Allison Schaefers

POSTED:

What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas. But don’t expect the same result in Waikiki.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser has opened a news bureau in the heart of the tourist mecca. The expansion will keep readers informed about what is going on in the state’s economic engine and how these experiences affect them.

Allison Schaefers, who it was announced Monday won two national business journalism awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, will report from the neighborhood. The Star-Advertiser aims to be the voice of Waikiki. We will document Waikiki’s issues and share the stories of its people — visitors, residents, transients and workers alike.

Call Allison Schaefers at 218-6718 or email her at aschaefers@staradvertiser.com.
