Health Department gets new deputy

Hawaii Gov. Neil Aber­crom­bie has appointed a new deputy director for the Department of Health.

Keith Yamamoto, appointed first deputy director, has served as an administrator in the Health Department's Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division. He previously served as the children and youth program development officer in the Office of Youth Services-Program Development.

Yamamoto is state certified as a substance abuse program administrator.

Volunteers sought

The Queen’s Medical Center is inviting high school and college students 15 and older to apply for its 2011 Summer Volunteer Program. Sessions are June 1-July 19 and June 13-July 29. Contact the volunteer office at 547-4397 or email lrusso@queens.org.
