Mililani man arrested after standoff

Police arrested a 44-year-old Mililani man on suspicion of abuse of a household member and assault against a law enforcement officer after a standoff at his home on Kealakaa Street Sunday night.

The incident began at about 7:15 p.m. when the man allegedly assaulted his 16-year-old son. Police closed Kealakaa Street until the suspect was located and arrested at about 9:40 p.m.

Police said the man assaulted an officer after his arrest and was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during the arrest.

The man’s son and the officer involved declined medical treatment.

Sleeping couple arrested in stolen car

Police arrested a man and woman who fell asleep in a stolen vehicle in a condo parking lot in Waikele.

Police were called to the Lumikala Street parking lot at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday and determined the vehicle had been stolen.

During a search, police say they found a switchblade, drugs and drug paraphernalia on the 27-year-old Ewa Beach man. Officers arrested him for possession of a prohibited knife as well as drug and car theft charges. The 22-year-old Makiki woman with him was arrested for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
