Police arrested a 30-year-old man who is believed to be the driver of a pickup truck that struck a 3-year-old boy Friday night in Waipahu, then left the scene.
Police said the incident took place about 6:45 p.m. on Kaaholu Street near Hoikaika Place.
Paramedics took the boy to the hospital in good condition after he apparently darted across the street and was hit by the truck, police said.
Witnesses got the truck's license plate number and officers found the vehicle within an hour. About 8:30 p.m., the man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for an accident and driving without a license.
A 33-year-old man was taken to the hospital early Saturday morning after being critically injured in what police termed a "large fight" in Waianae.
According to police, the victim suffered a fractured skull after being struck with a baseball bat. A male suspect in the fight fled as police were responding and has not yet been identified or arrested.
The incident happened around 12:30 a.m.
