» An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment on Jan. 29 charging Nicolas P. Nakano with various crimes, including four counts of attempted murder. His first name was misspelled in a Page B2 story Jan. 30.
» The state Board of Education has the authority to set the base salaries for the deputy, assistant and complex area superintendents, and approved raises for them in September. The law capping those salaries at 80 percent of the superintendents salary was amended in 2011, leaving only the restriction that they cannot exceed the superintendents salary. An editorial on Page A13 Wednesday said the 80 percent pay cap was still in effect.
»An increase in solar photovoltaic system installations by customers of Hawaiian Electric Co. and its subsidiaries last year cut into the utilitys electricity sales. A headline on Page B5 Wednesday said the utilitys earnings were affected.
