A crowd of 10,000 people packed Waikiki Beach Saturday night for a special Sunset on the Beach "Hawaii Five-0" premiere.
The event included a red-carpet arrival of the cast, which prompted many fans to stake out seating in the sand hours ahead of the screening.
Jenny Rosa, a 63-year-old retired surf instructor from Kaimuki, found a spot on the beach at 6 a.m. and had a perfect view of the large screen. But she was late. “There were 30 crazy people ahead of me,” she said.
This was the second year that CBS unveiled “Five-0” in Hawaii.
“We’re completely humbled and blown away,” Lenkov said. “These people have been supporting us from the beginning. You feel like you are watching this thing in your living room with your family.”
Alex O’Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett, said he was proud of the episode, calling it fast and hard-hitting drama.
“I am thrilled to be here and what a turnout,” he said. “They are great crowd. Some aren’t wearing much but that’s Hawaii, so it’s good.”
Other stars on the red carpet included Daniel Dae Kin, Terry O’Quinn, Grace Park, Masi Oka and Scott Caan.
The rest of the nation won’t see the season two premiere until Sept. 19.
