Hawaii seeing gradual improvement in employment, state official says

By Associated Press

POSTED:

Hawaii's unemployment rate is holding steady, just like it is nationwide.

Director of Labor and Industrial Relations Pearl Imada Iboshi said Thursday that Hawaii's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.3 percent in July, the same as it was in June. Nationally, the unemployment rate also remained unchanged at 9.5 percent from June to July.

Hawaii's unemployment rate in July improved compared with the same month in the previous year, when it stood at 7 percent.

Iboshi says Hawaii is continuing to see gradual improvement in employment. There were 40,250 people unemployed in the islands in July, down from 44,750 last year.
