A Big Island Fire Department helicopter plucked a sailor from waters off Hilo after his sailboat overturned yesterday afternoon.
Hawaii County firefighters responded to a report of a boat in distress about 100 yards offshore of Bayshore Towers just after 3 p.m.
Crews located a small sailboat that had overturned with a man in the water wearing a life jacket.
The helicopter brought the man to shore where paramedics determined he did not need medical attention, firefighters said.
