Lifeguards rescue tourist in Waikiki

Lifeguards rescued  a 54-year-old Japanese tourist who nearly drowned in Waikiki this morning, an Emergency Medical Services spokesman said..


The man had been swimming inside the breakwater near Waikiki when he stopped breathing about 10 a.m.,  lifeguards said. 


Lifeguards brought him ashore and performed CPR, reviving him.

 

Paramedics took the man to Straub Clinic & Hospital.
