Andrew Jackson, who formerly worked at Honolulu's KITV and KGMB-TV, was named president and general manager of KITV, owner Hearst Television announced today.

He replaces Michael Rosenberg, who is retiring after four decades in local television. Jackson starts at KITV later this month.

"Returning to KITV means not only an opportunity to work again at a great station, but an opportunity for my wife, Julia, who was born in Mililani, and my children to return with me to the wonderful home that is Hawaii," Jackson said in a statement. "There is no better media platform than local broadcast TV. A top station can inform and serve its community and be a valuable partner for local businesses seeking to grow."

His most recent role was senior vice president for marketing and creative services at BBC America, where he oversaw marketing content and strategy, ad sales and marketing partnerships to promote BBC's worldwide brand. Before that, he worked as a director for on-air marketing at the FX national cable network and as a creative director at the WB broadcast network.

"I know the station and the community will benefit from his management talents and his expertise in building brands, developing and showcasing great content — both news and entertainment — and his skill in forging productive business alliances with our customers," David Barrett, Hearst president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.  "Andrew has a unique understanding of the people and culture of Hawaii, and of the critical role of local journalism in serving the community."

He previously worked in management positions overseeing marketing and promotion for six years at KGMB-TV and four years at KITV. He also has held marketing and promotion positions at television stations in California and Florida.
