Police are looking for the driver of a stolen van who led police on a chase yesterday morning in the wrong direction on the H-2 freeway.

The incident began when an officer noticed a white van make an abrupt turn from Waipahu Street onto the H-2 Waipahu Street off-ramp about 12:15 a.m., police said.

The van traveled Wahiawa-bound against Waipahu-bound traffic on H-2 as the officer followed from a distance. The van eluded the officer after getting off the Ka Uku Boulevard exit.
While police were searching the area, a man flagged down an officer and said the white van had collided with his car.

Police found the van nearby, fronting 94-109 Luluka Place in Waipio, but the driver had already fled.
Officers found the van had been reported stolen in Kaneohe and had photocopied paper license plates.
