Police arrest pair in alleged charity-van break-in

Honolulu police arrested a 24-year-old Makiki man and 43-year-old Makiki woman for allegedly breaking into a van belonging to a charitable organization on Christmas Eve.
Police said a witness saw the suspects in a van belonging to the unidentified charity and confronted the couple at about 4 p.m. Friday.
Police said the van door locks had been damaged. The man and woman attempted to flee and were arrested at Makiki District Park, police said.
