Robbery suspect arrested riding allegedly stolen bicycle

A 20-year-old man who allegedly tried to rob a man at a Kalihi bus stop last night was later arrested riding an allegedly stolen bicycle, police said.

The 21-year-old man who refused to give over his property at the bus stop at 9:45 p.m. last night was then assaulted by the 20-year-old man, police said.

The suspect fled but was later stopped a short distance away allegedly riding a bicycle that had been reported stolen from a 57-year-old woman at a nearby store, police said.

The man resisted arrest but was subdued by officers, police said.

He was being held for investigation of robbery in the second degree, third-degree theft, detaining stolen property and harassment.
