The cool temperatures and a passing weak storm front brought snow to the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island.

Both mountains got a few inches of snow overnight that was visible this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for both summits and for Haleakala on Maui because of cold, west winds of 30 to 40 mph, gusting up to 50 mph.

People driving to the summits should exercise caution and prepare for strong winds and cold weather conditions.
