Firefighters rescued two hikers who lost their way tonight in the mountains above Dillingham Airfield.

The couple, in their 40s, called for help about 6:05 p.m. after they got lost on the Kealia Trail, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

He said the hikers, who are visiting Hawaii, had flashlights but couldn't find their way out of the trail near the Mokuleia end of Farrington Highway.

A fire helicopter lowered rescue firefighters onto the trail. They located the couple about 8 p.m. and walked them out at 8:45 p.m., Seelig said.

The hikers were not hurt.

Firefighters also rescued a woman who was injured today while hiking on Diamond Head.

The woman was near the bottom of the trail when she hurt her arm, he said.

Firefighters loaded her onto a stretcher and carried her off the trail. She was transferred to paramedics in the parking lot of Diamond Head Crater, Seelig said.
