Hawaii pitchers Stephanie Ricketts and Kaia Parnaby both threw one-hitters to lead the Rainbow Wahine softball team to a doubleheader sweep of UC Riverside today at Amy S. Harrison Field.

Ricketts took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up a single with two out in UH's 2-0 win in the opener. She finished with six strikeouts and walked two.

Parnaby followed by striking out eight in a 9-1 win shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule.

UH improved to 11-1 with the sweep.

In the first game, Ricketts struck out the first two batters of the game and walked Alexis Pickett. She then retired the next 10 batters in order before walking Taylor Thomas in the fifth inning. Kayla White broke up the no-hitter in the sixth with a single to right.

UC Riverside's Jordyn McDonald took the loss despite holding the Hawaii offense to two runs on seven hits. Both UH runs scored on errors. Kelly Majam scored in the top of the first inning on a throwing error on Alex Aguirre's fielder's choice grounder.

Majam doubled in the fifth inning and reached third on a grounder. She then scored on a throwing error on Jessica Iwata's stolen base attempt.

In addition to her six strikeouts, Ricketts induced 12 groundouts and just two flyouts and faced two batters over the minimum.

Parnaby got ample offensive support in the second game. Third baseman Melissa Gonzalez went 4-for-4 and gave UH the lead with a two-run single in the first inning.

The Wahine scored four more runs in the third. Iwata hit her eighth home run of the season and Sharla Kliebenstein added a two-run shot.

The Rainbow Wahine checked in at No. 10 in the USA Today/NFCA poll today, down a spot from last week. UH moved up a place in the ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings to No. 11.
