Surf along northern and western shores is expected to climb as high as 35 feet today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a high surf warning.
The warning includes north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu, and northern shores of Molokai, Maui and the Big Island. The north-northwest swell will produce warning-level surf, from 25 to 35 feet, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, forecasters said.
A high surf advisory for eastern shores of Oahu is in effect for the same period, they said. Wave heights of 10 to 14 feet are possible.
The weather service warns that the high surf can cause dangerous swimming conditions and deadly rip currents.
