Sisto, Rainbows blank LaTech 1-0

Matt Sisto tossed six shutout innings and combined with three other Rainbow pitchers to defeat Louisiana Tech 1-0 on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Michael Blake's two-out RBI single scored Pi'ikea Kitamura in the third for the only run of the game.

Kitamura had three hits and Breland Almadova went 2-for-4 with a double.

Hawaii (19-14, 5-0 Western Athletic Conference) is off to its best start in league play since going 6-0 in 1988.

Sisto (3-4) allowed six hits and two walks with five strikeouts to lower his ERA to 2.10 for the year.

Lenny Linsky got Corey White to ground out to Kolten Wong with the tying run on second to earn his sixth save.

Bulldogs ace Trevor Petersen allowed the one run in seven innings to fall to 3-2 for the season.

LaTech dropped to 17-16 overall and 2-3 in the WAC. The Rainbows currently hold a two-game advantage over New Mexico State and Fresno State.

The series continues on Saturday night at 6:35.
