Callers pretending to be Hawaiian Electric Company employees have been phoning customers and asking for personal information.
The utility said Thursday the impostors tell customers their bills are overdue and must be paid or else electric service will be disconnected.
The callers then ask for personal financial information.
Hawaiian Electric customers are urged to never provide personal, confidential or financial information to any unidentified person.
