star-advertiser / 2011 Wahine ace Stephanie Ricketts will pitch in her hometown this weekend when Hawaii plays a three-game series against San Jose State.

Hawaii junior Stephanie Ricketts was named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference softball pitcher of the week today for her performance in UH's sweep of San Jose State.

Ricketts won the first and third games of the series and gave up one run and seven hits over 12 innings. She held the Spartans to two hits and walked one in UH's 8-0 win in the opening game last Friday, posting her ninth shutout of the season. She closed the series by striking out eight in a 3-1 victory.

Ricketts enters the WAC tournament two strikeouts away from tying Brooke Wilkins for the UH career record.

The fourth-seeded Rainbow Wahine (36-16, 14-7) play in the WAC tournament Wednesday against Utah State in Fresno, Calif.
