Firefighters saved a $5 million home after a fire broke out Tuesday morning in Portlock.
The fire started at 8:53 a.m. in a cottage next door to a mansion at 1 Kokee Place, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig. Firefighters used compressed air form to control the blaze in 10 minutes. One person at home in the cottage got out without injuries.
Seelig said the cottage had expensive furnishings and was heavily damaged. Damages were estimated at $600,000. The cause remains under investigation.
