Two 18-year-old women who allegedly attempted to cash a forged check at two different Kapahulu banks were in a police cellblock pending charges Thursday.

The two attempted to cash a check, which is in the name of another woman, 48, for more than $300 at one area bank about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, police said. When they got suspicious, they fled but then went to another bank and attempted to do the same, police said.

The two suspects were arrested there just before 5 p.m., police said. The bank account allegedly belongs to the mother of one of the teens, police said.

The suspects are being held on suspicion of two counts each of forgery, theft, identity theft and unauthorized use of personal information.
