WBO flyweight champion Julio Cesar Miranda needed multiple attempts today before eventually making weight for Saturday night's fight against challenger Brian Viloria at the Blaisdell Arena.
Both fighters officially weighed in at 111.6 pounds, but Miranda was forced to cut more than two pounds in three hours.
Prior to the official weigh-in, Miranda tested the scale and was 114 pounds before heading downstairs at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel to cut the necessary weight.
His first official attempt to make weight was 112.9 pounds, giving him two hours to cut nine ounces.
He made it below the 112-pound limit with less than an hour to spare, making tomorrow night's fight official.
Viloria (28-3, 16 knockouts) easily made weight as he tries to win his third world title and first at 112 pounds. His two previous title reigns came at 108 pounds.
Miranda (35-5-1, 28 KOs) has won his last five fights by knockout.
