LAST UPDATED: 04:41 a.m. HST, Aug 22, 2011

Police said speed was a factor when a 23-year-old Honolulu man was critically injured in a motorcycle accident on the Kapiolani offramp on the H-1 freeway.

Police said the man was riding a black and silver Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when he struck the left curbing in a right bend on the offramp and fell to the ground at 4:43 p.m. Sunday.

Police said he was taken in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center.

The man was wearing a helmet, police said.

Police shut down the Kapiolani offramp at about 5 p.m. today for about two hours while they investigated the crash.
