A construction worker was critically injured this morning after being struck by a car as he placed warning cones on the King Street off-ramp of the H-1 Freeway.
Police said the incident happened at about 8:24 a.m. on the Koko Head-bound off-ramp.
A 1999 Toyota driven by a 23-year-old man was exiting the freeway and hit a 46-year-old man who was placing road construction warning cones on the off-ramp, police said.
It was not clear if the man was in the roadway or on the left shoulder, according to police.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Police said the driver submitted to a blood test.
Police closed the off-ramp for about two hours while investigating the crash.
