Na Pali State Park will close for cleaning, repairs

By Associated Press

The state will close Napali Coast State Wilderness Park and the Kalalau trail from Hanakapiai to Kalalau Beach from Thursday to Sept. 22 so workers can restore the Kalalau camping area after a busy summer season.

The Division of State Parks will remove rubbish and discarded camping equipment from illegal campers, repair and maintain park facilities, allow reduction of feral animal populations by hunters and conduct enforcement actions along the Kalalau trail and in the valleys.

The actions are meant to improve the quality of the watershed and protect cultural resources, the department said Monday.
