Maui County to hold meeting on future of film industry

By Associated Press

WAILUKU >> Maui County plans to hold an open meeting in Kahului this month to discuss the future of the county's film industry.

Harry Donenfeld, the head of the county's film office, says the meeting is also designed to help the county find out what services, equipment and talent are available for local film productions.

He says there's been a lot of press lately about how Maui is a great location for filming and his office has been getting a lot of inquiries. He says his office needs to gather everyone in one place and get an idea of what's available.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Kahului Community Center on Sept. 26 beginning at 6 p.m.
