FAA grants $3M to refurbish Molokai Airport taxiways

By Star-Advertiser staff

POSTED:

The Federal Aviation Administration has given $3 million to the state Department of Transportation to refurbish taxiways A and B at the Molokai Airport.

Molokai Airport "supports a community that depends on air travel for essential services such as specialized medical care or emergency treatment. When (U.S. Transportation) Secretary Ray LaHood last visited Hawaii he met with Molokai residents and heard firsthand about these unique needs," U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono said in a news release.

A separate federal grant of $1,217,655 will be used to finish renovations at Honolulu Airport to the third level of the Ewa concourse in the main terminal building.
