A former Hawaii Pacific University administrative assistant pleaded not guilty today to a second-degree theft charge of stealing at least $13,000 from the school parking fees.
Dorothy Inouye, 47, was given a trial date of Nov. 14 by Circuit Judge Richard Perkins. Inouye was the administrative assistant to the school’s vice president when she didn’t turn in at least $13,000 from May to September 2009, according to prosecutors.
Inouye, who was indicted on the theft charge by the Oahu grand jury on Aug. 30, is free on $11,000 bail. The second-degree theft charge carries a prison term of up to five years.
