A Chinese city has donated three dragon boats and dozens of wood paddles to Honolulu.
The People's Municipal Government of Zhongshan is a sister city of Honolulu.
A ceremony is to be held Friday, when Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle will accept the gifts from Zhongshan's vice mayor.
Honolulu officials say the boats were donated to foster the 15-year tradition of dragon boat racing here.
The new boats meet International Dragon Boat Federation standards and have a combined value of about $10,000.
Honolulu has 27 sister-city relationships throughout the world.
