If the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team’s die-hard fans had any qualms about selling out to Hollywood, they weren’t showing it Saturday night as they cheered the Wahine to victory over No. 21 Pepperdine then obediently took direction from a “Hawaii Five-0” film crew on location at the Stan Sheriff Center to shoot an upcoming episode.
“I think this is amazing that they’re doing this here,” said Mason Sasaki, 24, of Salt Lake.
The “Five-0” crew was on site to shoot the crowd for an episode that reportedly will feature real-life head coach Dave Shoji as a marked man. The shoot, which did not include Wahine players, per NCAA regulations, took place after the game.
Advance news of the unusual double-feature resulted a rare sellout for the 10,300-seat facility.
