Honolulu firefighters extinguished an apartment fire in Waipahu this morning.

The fire broke out on the balcony of a second-floor apartment at the Dynasty Terrace building at 94-011 Pupnone Street at about 4:15 a.m., said fire Capt. Carlton Yamada.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which was confined to the balcony, in about 15 minutes, Yamada said.

Four people, 3 adults and a 10-year-old child, escaped the apartment without injury. The Red Cross is assisting the family.

Damage from the fire, smoke and water is estimated at $25,000. The cause is under investigation.
