Brush fire chars quarter acre in Waipahu

Firefighters put out a brush fire that burned about a quarter of an acre along the Waipahu peninsula this afternoon.

The fire was reported about 1:57 p.m. on Waipahu Depot Road between the city’s Ted Makalena Golf Course and the Waipio Soccer Complex, said Honolulu fire Capt. Gary Lum.

It was reported under control about 2:50, he said.
