Murder suspect didn't do it, defense lawyer says

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 12:53 p.m. HST, Oct 31, 2011

Police got the wrong man, the lawyer for accused killer Toi Nofoa told a jury in state court this morning.

Nofoa, 33, is on trial for first-degree murder for the March 17, 2009 shooting death of his ex-girlfriend, Royal Kaukani.

Nofoa is facing a possible life prison term without the opportunity for parole, the harshest penalty under state law, because Kaukani, 25, was a witness against him in a kidnapping, assault and threatening case.

Sounds like he has a public defender to defend him in court, probably threatened the attorney too. "Get me off or I'm gonna kill you" Toi you're going down the toilet really fast.

Wrong guy? He did this in broad daylight in front of numerous witnesses, including assaulting an old man that tried to intervene, finally stopped at gun-point by an off-duty police officer. Wrong guy? ... the attorney should be disbarred. Come up with a real defense, man!

Oh please, the best-used defense is Some Other Dude Did It. Disbarred, no way. Could be more creative? Sure.
