Fire burns an acre of brush on Kauai

A fire burned about an of brush burned Tuesday afternoon at 6180 S. Koolau Road in Moloaa, Kauai, near the old Meadow Gold Dairy.

The fire was reported at 3 p.m. and fully extinguished by 5:06 p.m.

While there was no immediate threat to structures, Kauai police officers initiated a voluntary evacuation of homes in the surrounding area as a safety precaution.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
